Rapid Resolution Therapy

What Is Rapid Resolution Therapy (RRT)?

Rapid Resolution Therapy is a form of trauma-focused hypnotherapy treatment similar to EMDR that’s designed to help people process and release the emotional weight of difficult experiences, often in far fewer sessions than traditional talk therapy or EMDR therapy requires. Rather than asking clients to relive painful memories in detail, RRT uses a combination of guided conversation, imagery, and subconscious-focused techniques to change how the brain and body respond to a traumatic memory, without requiring the person to re-experience the distress associated with it.

The goal isn't to erase the memory, it's to change the emotional charge attached to it, so the memory no longer triggers anxiety, panic, shame, or avoidance in daily life.

What Happens in a Rapid Resolution Therapy Session?

A typical RRT session involves:

1. A conversation about what's bringing you in with no pressure to share every detail of a traumatic event.

2. Guided techniques that may include imagery, metaphor, and relaxation to help access and shift the subconscious response tied to the memory.

3. A check-in afterward to see how the memory or trigger feels now, compared to before the session.

Clients often describe feeling noticeably lighter, calmer, or less reactive to the memory almost immediately, though everyone's experience and timeline is different.

What Does Rapid Resolution Therapy Help With?

People seek out RRT for a wide range of concerns, including:

• Single-incident trauma (accidents, medical trauma, loss)

• Complex or childhood trauma

• Anxiety and panic attacks

• Phobias

• Grief and difficulty processing loss

• Persistent negative thought patterns

• Performance anxiety

• Emotional blocks tied to a specific memory or belief

Because RRT works directly with how memories are stored and triggered, it's often used when someone feels "stuck,”

when they understand intellectually that a past event shouldn't still affect them, but it does anyway.

Is Rapid Resolution Therapy Right for You?

RRT tends to be a good fit for people who:

• Have tried traditional talk therapy or EMDR without the results they hoped for

• Want a more direct, structured path through a specific trauma or block

• Feel ready to move forward but are held back by one recurring issue

• Prefer not to spend extensive time recounting painful details

How Is RRT Different From Traditional Talk Therapy?

Traditional talk therapy often involves examining a problem from multiple angles over weeks or months, gradually building insight and coping skills. RRT takes a different approach:

• Sessions are typically fewer. Many clients notice a shift in as little as one to three sessions, compared to the longer timelines typical of other modalities.

• You don't have to relive the trauma out loud. Much of the therapeutic work happens without requiring a detailed retelling of what happened.

• It targets the subconscious response, not just conscious understanding, which is often why relief can happen faster than expected.

That said, RRT isn't a replacement for all therapy. For many clients, it works well alongside other approaches like talk therapy or Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).
